Burger King says to end TV ads aimed at kids in UK | Reuters.com
LONDON, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Fast food chain Burger King Holdings Inc (BKC.N: Quote, Profile, Research) is to stop making TV adverts aimed at children in the UK and will no longer advertise during children's TV programmes in the UK, it said on Tuesday.
The world's second-biggest hamburger chain behind McDonald's Corp (MCD.N: Quote, Profile, Research) said it would introduce the new policy from Dec. 22.
"Our decision regarding kids' advertising in the UK is the right step for Burger King in this market at this time," Giorgio Minardi, Burger King divisional vice president of northwest Europe, said in a statement.
"We will concentrate our marketing promotions on the outstanding quality of our food as well as consumer choice -- the "Have It Your Way" brand platform," he said.
