Saskatchewan (The Motion Picture) fixed
The following is a shameless plug for a friend. That friend is Brian Stockton who is a filmmaker who has made a three part trilogy about his home province Saskatchewan. The third installment premieres this weekend in Regina.
The song "Saskatchewan" by the Supers is available for a free download here (bottom of page).
Forget the 2005 Saskatchewan centennial song competition, there is only one song that truly captures our great province, and that's the one written by Jim Roberts in 1971, simply called "Saskatchewan."
I'm writing today to announce the release of a new version of that great song, recorded by Toronto-based band The Supers. The Supers feature former Saskatchewanians Maury LaFoy and Graham Powell who have lit the Canadian music scene on fire with their own indie recordings, and their work with artists like Jann Arden, Ron Sexsmith and K-Os. It was Maury LaFoy who played the infamous bass line of K-Os's mega-hit Crabbuckit, Graham and Maury both play in Jann Arden's band, and Maury has played with Sarah Harmer, Ron Sexsmith and more.
Maury and Graham, graduates of Sheldon Williams Collegiate in Regina, have recorded a new version of Jim Robert's Saskatchewan. It was created for a short film by Brian Stockton, playing Friday Dec 8th at Noon at the Southland Mall Cinemas in Regina. But forget the film, I know the people of Saskatchewan will want to hear this song!
There's s a free MP3 download from
We don't have a record company, we don't have a publicist, we barely have a web site, but we think people will want to hear this song!
