THE CDN DOLLAR - I CAN'T GET MY HEAD AROUND IT
I bought an Arms Reach Co-Sleeper* bassinet on eBay this morning, my first online purchase since the Dollar moved above par. As much as I try, I can't get my head around the reversed status of the Canadian Dollar.
It makes as much sense as the sky being green. I've been eBaying for ten years and I'm accustomed to automatically recalculating the US price in my mind. When I see $100 US, I see $130 in JamesMoney. Now I have to recalibrate my brain to see $95 in JamesMoney and my brain isn't adjusting well.
I've had to put a warning sticker on the top of my laptop screen: "Objects on your screen may be cheaper than they appear."
It's just wrong. And if I do get used to it, I fear having to go back to a 65 cent Canadian Dollar. I don't think I could ever bring myself to buy anything at that price again.
I wish I had money to burn. Shopping online is like a free trip to the States with a discount card good for 5% off their already-low prices!
*The co-sleeper is not available for retail sale in Canada, so eBay was my our only option other than driving down there.
