Dark days of Canadian podcasting just brightened up

After a tumultuous few weeks of mourning following the controversial demise of one of Canada's most loved podcasts, Broca's Area, another well-known podcast is returning.

Todbits with Tod Maffin made a surprise return today after several months of hiatus and I couldn't be more happy.

Tod has had health problems but he's back and better than ever.

Taco Bell will be the latest fast-food chain to cut artery-clogging trans fats from cooking oils in its U.S. restaurants, the company announced Thursday.

Burger King's monster 923 calorie burger | Metro.co.uk

Burger

A typical man would need to walk for nine miles to burn it off.

In terms of calories it's the same as chomping five chocolate bars, 13 digestive biscuits in one go or downing four and a half pints of lager.

It's a stunning 923 calories and it's coming to a Burger King near you: it's the new Double Whopper with Cheese.

I've never felt sexier

I've never felt sexier than I do standing next to, and adjusting, my new table saw.  Just $40 on clearance at Walmart, the table stand bought on sale too, just 10 dollars from forty at Canadian Tire.  No, you can't borrow it.

I've wanted a table saw since I was in high school. I've been eying them for nearly twenty five years.  I couldn't walk past one in Canadian Tire or Home Depot without one catching and holding my eye as I passed by for two and a half decades.  Oh, how I envied them, all shiny and table-like.

But here I sit, near my imminent death, with my table saw mounted firmly on its stand, sitting in the middle of my living room, all purchased for under fifty dollars.

I must retain my HGTV when it comes time to choosing my cable TV packages next month.  No longer will I watch Mike Holmes and dream of making those precision cuts myself.

I am complete.

Norton Ghost Fucks James: More Delays...

Sorry but I'm upgrading my system and I've run into unexpected delays. I put in a new 3o0 gig hard drive to replace my 60 gig old clogged up drive.  I tried to use Norton Ghost to copy the old drive onto the new one and keep going without any delays but low and behold, it didn't work.  My old drive is fucked and my new one won't run either.

So I'm reinstalling my operating system and all my programs and settings from scratch.  I'm not sure when new podcasts or vlogs will be released but it shouldn't be more than a few days.

Burger King says to end TV ads aimed at kids in UK | Reuters.com

LONDON, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Fast food chain Burger King Holdings Inc (BKC.N: Quote, Profile, Research) is to stop making TV adverts aimed at children in the UK and will no longer advertise during children's TV programmes in the UK, it said on Tuesday.

The world's second-biggest hamburger chain behind McDonald's Corp (MCD.N: Quote, Profile, Research) said it would introduce the new policy from Dec. 22.

"Our decision regarding kids' advertising in the UK is the right step for Burger King in this market at this time," Giorgio Minardi, Burger King divisional vice president of northwest Europe, said in a statement.

"We will concentrate our marketing promotions on the outstanding quality of our food as well as consumer choice -- the "Have It Your Way" brand platform," he said.

Technology: Buzz: You may love Windows Media Player, but it doesn't love podcasts

Microsoft has released a new version of its Windows Media Player software, with a revamped look and updated features - but it's missing one capability that tech enthusiasts have come to expect in the age of digital media.

Windows Media Player 11 doesn't come with its own feature for subscribing to podcasts, the increasingly popular form of online audio and video programs.

From fast food to faster food

When Jairo Moncada pulled up to the drive-through at Wendy’s in Burbank, Calif., for his usual cheeseburger, fries, and soda, he knew things looked different. There was an extra lane. But the 25-year-old could not see the biggest change: The woman taking his lunch order was sitting 3,000 miles away at a computer terminal in Nashua, and fielding calls from Wendy’s customers at drive-throughs as far away as Florida and Washington, D.C. “I had absolutely no idea I was talking to someone in New Hampshire,” Moncada said. “Our order was ready at the window. It was really quick.” It took a total of 66 seconds.
